Council Member Inna Vernikov (District 48, Brighton Beach) was arrested after openly carrying a handgun outside of a Brooklyn College rally in support of Palestine.
In a written memo, Governor Hochul expressed enthusiastic support for Mayor Adams’ recent call to suspend NYC’s Right to Shelter obligation, after housing groups had asked her to oppose his plan.
An 18-year-old Palestinian man was assaulted on Wednesday night in Bay Ridge by a group of men waving Israeli flags.
Mayor Adams is expected to announce that migrant families with children will have to leave and re-apply for shelter after 60 days. Last week over 100 healthcare workers sent a joint letter to Adams calling shelter limits “cruel and unproductive.”
NYC is behind on its obligation to install pedestrian ramps at all approximately 185,000 street corners in the five boroughs, according to the Department of Transportation’s July “Transition Plan.”
A New York Focus investigation found that the New York Sheriff’s Association had lobbied against the 2021 law that requires all jails to provide medication for opioid use disorder.
