New York City Council voted overwhelmingly to override Mayor Adams’ veto on a package of bills to expand rental assistance. It is the first time the Council has overridden a veto in nearly a decade, since the Bloomberg Administration.
The Screen Actors Guild have joined writers on the picket lines in New York City and Los Angeles, as Hollywood studios refuse to negotiate a new contract with workers. According to a Deadline report, studio CEOs intend to drag out the strike to intentionally “bleed out” workers before engaging in contract talks in the fall.
