Interim NYPD Commissioner Tom Donlon, who replaced Edward Caban when Caban resigned after being implicated in a federal corruption investigation, is expected to step down after his own home was raided by federal investigators. Donlon will likely be replaced by Sanitation Commission Jessica Tisch.
Jesse Hamilton, another ally of Mayor Eric Adams, is being investigated for abusing his power over real estate services, accused of leasing office space from a real estate broker with whom he traveled to Japan.
As more and more corruption charges swirl around the Adams Administration, the City Council passed a series of bills aimed at increasing transparency around vendors doing business with the City.
The HALT Act, which was supposed to limit the use of solitary confinement in New York prisons, went into effect in March of 2022, but is still not being followed at many prisons, like the state’s only maximum-security facility for women.
