Mayor Eric Adams appointed several of his allies and donors to a newly announced Charter Revision Commission in what may be an attempt to counteract a new bill by City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams that would give the Council approval over 21 new appointments that the Mayor currently has sole discretion over.
US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced her support for the Not on Our Dime Act, which would prohibit nonprofits in New York State from providing support to Israeli settlements and the Israeli military.
Governor Kathy Hochul quietly appointed Daniel Martuscello III to be the head of the State's Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Martuscello was approved by the State Senate and will be the first permanent head of the State's prison system in 11 years.

Representatives Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14, Eastern Bronx, Astoria, Woodside) and Dan Goldman (NY-10, Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope) both face long-shot challengers in their primaries next month.
Andrea Gordillo, the Chair of Manhattan Community Board 3, has already raised over $100,000 in public matching funds for next year's primary to replace Carlina Rivera on the City Council in lower Manhattan, leading an already crowded pack of candidates.
